Multiple Teams · BIG Matchup with Bath This Thursday

The Valkyries have had their fair share of competition already this season. They are still holding proud an undefeated record with teams within the 16th region. That speaks highly of how well they compete against the other area teams.

The team is not satisfied, however, with just beating the area teams. They have their eyes set on bigger prizes. The past two weekends have been spent in the central and northern Kentucky areas which have better teams and level of play. The first weekend they went 0-6 while last weekend at Scott High they went 1-5. This would crush the mentality of most unless you factor in the level of teams of the other side of the net. The first winless tournament started a turnaround for the team in terms of teamwork and dedication. Last weekend, we saw that pay forward a bit as the team was competitive with every team they faced and almost every team is in or close to the state top 25 ranking. That is something to prove progress is being made.

Now they look to bring focus and lessons learned back to regional play and a huge district game this Thursday against Bath County. Since we play in a 3 team district and the top two teams move to the regional playoffs, the first place finisher in the regular season wins an automatic spot in the regional playoffs.

We always want to come in first in the regular season. It takes some pressure off and allows us to play a little more relaxed. The team has already beaten Fleming this seaon at their home and only needs this game to secure first place moving into the district tourney next month.

We want tons of fans to come out and cheer on the Valkyries to a regular season district title. Games are home on Thursday at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 (Frosh, JV, Varisty). It should be a good match to watch.
