Lady Viking Softball Senior catcher Lindsey Wilson has another career moment to remember. She hit not one, but two home runs in the 16-1 win in 4 innings at Powell County High School.
With one runner on base and RC holding a 2-1 lead over the Lady Pirates in the second inning, Wilson crushed the first pitch she faced over the left field fence. In the third frame, with two outs and nobody on, she stepped up to the plate again and pounded the second pitch out of the park, this time over the right field fence. She has four dingers on the season.
Three other Lady Vikings had extra-base hits in the game: senior Courtnae Bolander went 3 for 3 (including a double) with 3 runs and 2 RBI; senior Becca Duff went 3 for 4 (including a double) with 2 runs and 4 RBI; and junior Kendra Holbrook was 2 for 3 at the plate (including a double) with 2 runs and 2 RBI.
Two others from the Rowan line up contributed to the 12-hit barrage: freshman Sarah Hallock was 2 for 3 with 2 runs and an RBI and 8th-grade pinch hitter Haley Howard went 1 for 1, scored once, and had 2 RBI.
Senior pitcher Abby Hammond yielded just two hits in four innings while fanning two Lady Pirates and walking one.
